Fuzzy control Mechanism for Linguistic Response in IoT-based Voice Activated Robotic Vehicle
Abstract
This paper proposes a Fuzzy control mechanism to introduce linguistic response in Internet of things (IoT) based voice-activated semi-autonomous robotic vehicle. As real-life voice commands are vague in nature i.e., the same word may have different meaning for different situations, it is important to enhance the capability of robotic vehicles to differentiate between spoken linguistic variables. At the same time, this problem has only been investigated to a limited degree. The Fuzzy-based control algorithm for robotic vehicles proposed in this paper, implements decision-making based on audio input, enabling the robot hardware to differentiate between linguistic variables such as “fast”, “very-fast”, “slow”, “very-slow”, etc. The Fuzzy control mechanism drives the robotic vehicle at variable speeds according to the spoken voice commands given from a remote location via a cell phone connected to the Internet. The whole system operates using the following distributed computing mechanism. First, the voice to text conversion is done through an application running on the phone. Then, decoding of text to commands is done at the cloud, while the Fuzzy algorithm is executed on the robotic vehicle’s embedded hardware to generate the motor control commands.
